About 100th Air Refueling Wing

The 100th Air Refueling Wing is a United States Air Force unit stationed at Royal Air Force Mildenhall in the United Kingdom. It is responsible for providing air refueling support to U.S. and NATO aircraft operating in Europe and Africa. The wing also conducts medical evacuation missions, humanitarian relief operations, and supports global contingency operations. With a fleet of KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft, the 100th ARW plays a crucial role in extending the reach and endurance of U.S. and allied warfighters.

The 100th Air Refueling Wing was activated on January 1, 1942, making it one of the oldest active units in the United States Air Force.
During World War II, the 100th Air Refueling Wing provided air support for bombing missions over Europe, including the famous Operation Tidal Wave raid on the oil refineries at Ploiesti, Romania.
The 100th Air Refueling Wing is stationed at RAF Mildenhall in the United Kingdom, where it serves as a key component of the U.S. European Command's air mobility mission.
In 1968, the 100th Air Refueling Wing received the first KC-135 aircraft in the U.S. Air Force inventory, which greatly enhanced its aerial refueling capabilities.
During the Gulf War in 1991, the 100th Air Refueling Wing flew over 4,000 sorties and offloaded more than 115 million pounds of fuel to U.S. and coalition aircraft.
In 1993, the 100th Air Refueling Wing supported Operation Provide Promise, providing humanitarian aid to war-torn Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The 100th Air Refueling Wing played a critical role in Operation Iraqi Freedom, flying hundreds of missions in support of U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq.
In 2006, the 100th Air Refueling Wing was awarded the Mackay Trophy for its outstanding contributions to airpower during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
