I WAS BORN IN Kansas City Mo 06 10 1947 was sworn in Sept 66 and served in San Diego aboard AS 12 USS SPERRY a submarine Tender for my first 2 years then ordered to Guam USA for my last 2yr then I extended for 4 more months in order to have 24months remaining in order to get my wife shipped to Guam where she then arrived in November of '69 after Id got there in April '69....that made life more bearable on the Island where I was stationed aboard the USS PROTEUS AS 19 to work on Polaris. Submarines of Squadron 15 as we refitted the subs to Poseidon Subs that were then advanced to Tridents, One of the subs was USS VALEGO SSBN 658 AND SEVERAL MORE EARLIER SUBS as well I worked in the machine shop early on but transferred to R7 division to work in Quality Control for SUBSAFE and other designations that I can't remember. After my wife got to the island I enjoyed the rest of my tour until I was separated in Long Beach 29 April 1971 my dd 214 states I had 04 tested 03 months and 18 days active with 03 years and 05 daysSea Service I was MR2 and loved the machine shop on the Sperry but not so much when I got to Guam but after transferring to Quality Control I enjoyed my time as Division Supply Petty Officer I recall now I inspected parts for the upgrades that were taking place on the Subs for SUBSAFE and QUALITY CONTROL
