Chose the Air Force, when I got informed via the TV, on the last draft I was selected! In 1972 went to Lackland AFB for boot camp, from September 11th until early November. I was selected for the Fire Department. Sent to Chanute AFB, until right before Christmas. Went to Grissom AFB, a SAC base. Spent my four years there! I was called by my Deputy Fire Chief if I wanted a Civil Service job at Grissom. I took the job and remained in the Civil Service until 2005.
