I was assigned to Delta company 3rd Platoon Delta squad I rode in Delta 13 apc when deployed to desert storm from dexheim Germany. Sfc Runyon was my platoon sergeant, the soldiers in my squad were ssgt lee squad leader,sgt tinsley team leader, spc ledezma driver ,pfc hoskins,pfc woodward,pvt lester,pvt McKee. Lester and myself went through basic training together sfc Runyon was one of our drill instructors a co 31 fort Leonard wood Missouri. Sfc Runyon finished the trail and did a pcs half way through our training cycle. When we arrived in Germany I was told what unit I was going to they said by the way you are being deployed to the desert in 2 weeks. I arrived in dexheim and was assigned to Delta company it was on a Saturday. Monday the company commander told us new privates what platoons we were going to , I believe 6 new privates went to 3rd Platoon sfc Runyon's was platoon sergeant, 1st lt kerlin was platoon leader ,sfc Runyon took us new privates aside and said this is no longer basic training I am not the same person I am your platoon leader it is not like basic training which made us all feel at ease
