Larry Foy
Joined in 1963 and opted for the Radio Relay career assignment. My first base after basic training was Myrtle Beach, SC. Assigned to the 728th Tactical Control Squadron, I was sent to Shaw AFB for Ground Combat School. Next, I was transferred to Clark AFB, Philippines, and from there was deployed to the Marine Fire Base at Dong Ha Vietnam, just south of the DMZ where we maintained the TRC-66 tropospheric scatter link to Danang. Next, I was deployed to Thailand, a dream assignment. My training in Radio systems allowed me to hire on with a NASA prime contractor, and I supported the Apollo moon landing missions, and later, the Space Shuttle and The International Space Station.
