Donald Kuhnle
First deployment after BEE and Electricians school I was sent to Santo Stefano, Sardinia Italy on the USS Howard W. Gilmore, AS-16 for a little over a year (hardship duty?) (decommissioning crew in 1980). My second deployment was to San Diego/Long Beach California on the USS John A. Moore, FFG-19 (new construction - commissioning crew) where I served from August 1980 -June 1982. I was TDY to Waukegan Ill. multiple times during second deployment for schooling on the Moore's newer technology. I was discharged in 1982 and served inactive duty for another two years. Total enlistment was 6 years.
