SGM(R) Livingston is a veteran of both the US Navy and Army spanning almost 4 decades of service. He entered Naval Service at RTC San Diego in 1992. He attended Advance Individual Training at Great Lakes NTC as a Machinist Mate. Upon graduation, he attended Nuclear Power School (NPS) Phase 1 at Orlando, FL before transferring to NPS Phase 2 in Idaho Falls ID for the second half of training. He attended Basic Submarine School before being assigned to the USS Pargo at State's Pier New London CT. He was deployed on one Northern Run and two Med Runs before the ship transferred coast to go to the shipyards in Bremerton WA. He transferred to the USS McKee out of San Diego CA for two years before transferring to shore duty for three years at Naval Weapons Station Fallbrook Annex in Fallbrook CA. He transferred back to sea aboard the USS Drum. The Clinton Drawdown was happening in the early 1990's, and they were not offering any bonuses nor schools to reenlist. He got out in 1992 as a MM1 (SS). He entered the USAR in 1992 as a Sergeant to be trained at a Regular Army school as a Combat Medic (91B). He was assigned at the NCOIC of the 987th DET DET before he shipped off to school.
