Arlie Snow

U.S. Air Force Veteran

I was born in Tulsa OK, Oct of 1948, in a small hospital that is no longer open. Only moved once while I was in school, but attended 6 schools, graduating in 1966 from Memorial High School. Attended NSC in Tahlequah for 1 year, The University of Tulsa for 1 semester, then got into the USAF and went through basic at Amarillo TX. Went to Tech school at Keesler, AFB, MS, opened my mouth the wrong way and became a cook at Fairchild AFB, WA. There I met some wonderful people including Robert and Robin Tucker, at whose wedding I was Bob's best man. Ran around with a lot of friends who worked in the hospital where i cooked, lived in the dorm with me, or friends who lived in another dorm near where many of the females lived. In January of 1969, my fiance and I set our wedding for May 10, 1969. I was to come home on May 1st for our wedding. Uncle Sam gave me a wedding gift on Apr 30 for an unaccompanied trip to NKP, Thailand. We enjoyed our wedding and our short time together before I left. When I came back, I was stationed at Altus AFB in OK. Cooked in the SAC Alert facility for about 5 months, then cross trained to Dispatcher in Base Operations. We had a small 3 rm duplex off base, and again, I served with some really good people. I was promoted to Staff Sargent, E-5, and was Chief Dispatcher of Base Operations until my separation. Finished my BSBA at The University of Tulsa.
