The 182nd Airlift Wing is a unit of the Illinois Air National Guard, based at Peoria Air National Guard Base in Peoria, Illinois. Established in 1947 as the 182nd Fighter Squadron, the unit originally flew fighter aircraft before transitioning to airlift missions. Over its history, the 182nd has operated various aircraft, including the C-130 Hercules, supporting both state and federal missions such as disaster relief and combat operations overseas. The wing has earned numerous accolades for its performance and continues to play a critical role in tactical airlift operations for the U.S. Air Force and National Guard.
