About Air Reserve Personnel Center

The Air Reserve Personnel Center (ARPC) was established in 1953, originally known as the Air Reserve Records Center, to manage personnel records for Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard members. Located at Buckley Space Force Base in Colorado, the ARPC's mission has evolved to include personnel management, assignments, and retirement processing for over 1 million Air Force Reserve and Guard members. Throughout its history, ARPC has played a critical role in ensuring readiness and support by maintaining accurate records and providing essential personnel services. The center continues to adapt to technological advancements, streamlining processes to better serve the Total Force.

• Origins in WWII: The Air Reserve Personnel Center (ARPC) traces its roots to the Army Air Forces Personnel Distribution Command, established during World War II to manage personnel needs. • Established in 1953: ARPC was officially activated on 1 November 1953 in Denver, Colorado, to administer Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard personnel records. • Support for Over 1 Million Airmen: ARPC has managed personnel services for more than one million Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard members throughout its history. • First to Introduce Electronic Records: In the 1970s, ARPC became the first Air Force organization to implement an electronic records management system for reservists. • Critical Mobilization Role: During the Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm), ARPC played a pivotal role in rapidly mobilizing thousands of Reserve and Guard airmen. • Relocation to Buckley AFB: In 2011, ARPC moved from the historic Lowry Air Force Base in Denver to Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colorado. • Consolidation of Services: ARPC was instrumental in consolidating personnel services for both the Air Force Reserve and the Air National Guard, improving efficiency. • Largest Storer of Military Records: At one point, ARPC housed the largest repository of Air Force personnel records outside of the National Archives. • Innovation in Customer Service: ARPC pioneered the use of web-based customer service systems for reservists, earning recognition for innovation within the Department of Defense. • Family and Retiree Services: In addition to personnel management, ARPC provides services for Air Force retirees and their families, supporting veterans long after their service ends.
