The 801st Engineer Aviation Battalion was a United States Army unit activated during World War II, specializing in airfield construction and maintenance. Organized in 1942, the battalion was deployed to the Pacific Theater, where it played a crucial role in building and repairing airstrips on islands such as Guadalcanal and New Guinea, enabling Allied air operations. The unit’s work under difficult conditions contributed significantly to the success of the island-hopping campaign by providing essential infrastructure for combat aircraft. After the war, the 801st Engineer Aviation Battalion was inactivated as part of the postwar demobilization of U.S. forces.
