"What's Your First Name"
Salad Bar ReunionIt was a beautiful Sunday afternoon July 15, 2008 just after church services. All old southern Baptist either go home to eat Sunday dinner or they go out for dinner. My wife and I have a bad habit of going out to eat after Sunday service. Especially since our children are all grown and live in their own homes. We were at the restaurant enjoying our meal when I decided to venture to the salad bar just one more time. That's when it happened, I seen this old buddy of mine from the Viet nam War that I clearly recognize. Only problem, I can't remember his firstname. My old buddy recognizes me about the same time and we began to approach one another with out reached hands for shaking, and both of us asking, "WHAT YOUR FIST NAME". We shook hands, we embraced one another. Frankly, we had a re-union right there at the salad bar. So much so, everyone in the restaurant got involved. We introduced our wives to one another. Then we began to share our life story which was amazingly similar to one another. Now we stay in touch and occasionally go out to breakfast or lunch. ' ' |

1502nd FLMS reunion
tried to compress 46 years into two daysI was a member of the 1502nd Flightline Maintenance Sqd, Hickam AFB, Hawaii from Feburary 1958 to Feburary 1961. Seven months ago I started looking for some of the men from the same squadron using an internet search engine, did not know about VetFriends, and managed to locate 25 men from the 1502nd Sqd. There are still others and hopefully VetFriends will help. In late September 2007 we held a reunion in Branson, Missouri and seven of us plus wives attended. We had a great time, bringing all up to date, remembering our time together, we showed slides, laughed and shed some tears. We tried to compress 46 years into two days. In addition our wives gained a better idea and understanding of what we have been talking about all these years. We hope to put together another reunion in a few years. |
