I think about my dad who couldn't get into the military due
to flat feet, but he kept on trying and wound up in the
Penna Army National Guard during WWII. And all of my uncles who
served in the war, I think about how grateful I was that my son survived
Desert Storm only to go back and fight for Iraqi Freedom. He was wounded, but he
came home alive. Now he's getting better and wants to go back to help those people.
And my granddaughter who just graduated from boot camp and is ready to serve our country. All volunteers, none drafted. And my husband who was in the Marine Corps and still tries to serve his country by doing a lot of volunteer work here at home (He has encouraged many a young person to join the military). I think of friends lost in Viet Nam mostly. Lost both physically and mentally. I pray that God will give all of these service people peace of mind and body. I pray that God will give the good sense to all people of this world to come to peaceful understanding of each other and stop the killings, mutilation and destruction of each other. God bless all of our service people and veterans.
