Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment (C Co, 2/5 Cav), is a distinguished unit within the 1st Cavalry Division of the United States Army. The 5th Cavalry Regiment, originally formed in 1855, has participated in major conflicts from the Indian Wars through World War II, Vietnam, and modern operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. During Operation Desert Storm in 1991, B Co, 3/5 CAV participated in the rapid ground offensive into Iraq, helping to breach enemy defenses and secure key objectives. The unit has served with valor in numerous conflicts, including World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Global War on Terror. During Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, C Co 1-15 INF was among the first units to cross into Iraq, playing a pivotal role in the capture of Baghdad. The 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment (3/7th Infantry) traces its lineage to the War of 1812 and has participated in major conflicts throughout U.S. history. During the Civil War, the regiment earned distinction in numerous campaigns, including at Gettysburg and Atlanta. In the 20th century, 3/7th Infantry fought in both World Wars, the Korean War, and Vietnam, where it became renowned for its valor during intense combat operations. In recent decades, the battalion has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, continuing its tradition of service as part of the 3rd Infantry Division.
