The 54th Chemical Troop was a specialized unit assigned to the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR), stationed in Fulda, Germany, during the Cold War. Its primary mission was to provide chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) defense and support to the regiment, ensuring readiness against potential Warsaw Pact threats. The troop conducted regular training in decontamination, reconnaissance, and protective measures, supporting the 11th ACR’s border security and surveillance operations along the strategically vital Fulda Gap.
