The 502nd Military Intelligence (MI) Company served as the principal intelligence unit within the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment (2nd ACR). Activated during the Cold War, the company was tasked with providing tactical intelligence, counterintelligence, and electronic warfare support to the regiment. The 502nd MI Company played a significant role during Operation Desert Storm in 1991, where its efforts in reconnaissance and intelligence gathering were crucial to the regiment’s success in rapid maneuver operations against Iraqi forces. Throughout its history, the unit’s motto, “Silent Sentinels,” reflected its commitment to vigilance and the protection of its fellow soldiers through timely and accurate intelligence.
