The 3rd Battalion, 238th General Support Aviation Battalion (3/238th GSAB) is a unit within the U.S. Army National Guard, primarily equipped with CH-47 Chinook helicopters. The battalion provides heavy-lift aviation support, including troop transport, cargo movement, and aeromedical evacuation capabilities. Over the years, 3/238th GSAB has supported both domestic missions—such as disaster response and homeland security—and overseas operations, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve.
