HQ AFRES

Headquarters Air Force Reserve (HQ AFRES) was established in April 1948 to oversee and manage United States Air Force Reserve units and personnel. Initially reporting to the Chief of Air Force Reserve, HQ AFRES provided central administrative support, policy guidance, and operational oversight. Throughout the Cold War, HQ AFRES played a critical role in mobilizing Reserve forces for contingencies such as the Korean and Vietnam Wars. In 1997, HQ AFRES was redesignated as Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command (HQ AFRC), reflecting its elevated status as a major command within the U.S. Air Force structure.
940th Air Refueling wing

The 940th Air Refueling Wing (940 ARW) is a unit of the United States Air Force Reserve, currently stationed at Beale Air Force Base, California. Established in 1963 as the 940th Troop Carrier Group, it has undergone several redesignations and mission changes, including tactical airlift and air refueling roles. The wing began operating the KC-135 Stratotanker in the 1970s, providing vital aerial refueling support to U.S. and allied aircraft worldwide. Today, the 940th ARW continues to enhance global reach and combat readiness through its air refueling and support missions.
304th ARRS

The 304th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron (304th ARRS) was activated in 1957 as part of the United States Air Force Reserve, specializing in combat search and rescue operations. Stationed at Portland International Airport, Oregon, the unit provided vital rescue support for both military and civilian incidents, including aircraft crashes, natural disasters, and astronaut recovery missions during the early space program. The 304th ARRS operated a variety of aircraft over its history, such as the HH-3E Jolly Green Giant and the HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters. In 1997, the unit was redesignated as the 304th Rescue Squadron, continuing its legacy of lifesaving missions as part of Air Force Reserve Command.

452nd Air Mobility Wing

The 452nd Air Mobility Wing is a reserve component of the United States Air Force based at March Air Reserve Base in California. As part of the Air Force Reserve Command, the 452nd AMW provides tactical airlift and aerial refueling support to combatant commanders around the world. The wing operates C-17 Globemaster III and KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft to support global mobility missions. The 452nd AMW also plays a key role in disaster relief and humanitarian assistance operations.
