The NROTC Unit at The Citadel, established in 1970, has played a significant role in preparing future officers for service in the United States Navy and Marine Corps. Located in Charleston, South Carolina, the unit integrates the rigorous military environment of The Citadel with the Navy's officer training program. Over the years, it has commissioned hundreds of ensigns and second lieutenants, many of whom have gone on to distinguished careers in both military and civilian sectors. The unit continues to uphold a tradition of excellence, leadership, and service as an integral part of The Citadel's mission to develop principled leaders.

Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron 5 (MSRON 5) is a United States Navy unit specializing in expeditionary maritime security operations. Activated in the early 2000s as part of the Navy’s reorganization of its maritime security forces, MSRON 5 has provided critical port and harbor security, high-value asset protection, and anti-terrorism/force protection for naval and joint forces worldwide. The squadron’s highly trained Sailors have deployed to strategic locations such as the Middle East, the Horn of Africa, and the Western Pacific, often supporting major fleet and joint operations. MSRON 5’s adaptability and professionalism have made it a vital component of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command’s mission to ensure maritime security in contested and high-risk environments.

The Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) is the United States Navy's premier intelligence agency, established in 1882, making it the oldest member of the U.S. Intelligence Community. Originally founded to advance naval readiness by collecting information on foreign naval capabilities, ONI played a pivotal role in both World Wars by providing critical intelligence on enemy fleets and maritime operations. Throughout the Cold War, the office expanded its focus to include Soviet naval movements and technological advancements. USS Farragut DDG 37
U.S. Navy
USS Farragut (DDG-37) was a guided missile destroyer and the lead ship of her class in the United States Navy. Commissioned in 1960, she served during the height of the Cold War, participating in key NATO exercises, Atlantic and Mediterranean deployments, and operations such as the Cuban Missile Crisis quarantine. Over her career, Farragut provided anti-air and anti-submarine warfare capabilities, showcasing advancements in naval technology. She was decommissioned in 1989 after nearly three decades of service and was later scrapped.
