The 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment (2ND ACR), now known as the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, is a storied unit of the United States Army with origins dating back to 1836. Originally formed as the 2nd Regiment of Dragoons, it has served in numerous conflicts, including the Mexican-American War, Civil War, Indian Wars, World War I, World War II, the Cold War, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. During the Cold War, the 2ND ACR was renowned for its role as a border security force along the Iron Curtain, particularly in Germany. The regiment continues to serve as a Stryker Brigade Combat Team, maintaining its legacy of reconnaissance and cavalry excellence.
46th Engineer Battalion
U.S. Army
The 46th Engineer Battalion was first constituted on December 7, 1917, as part of the National Army and served in France during World War I. Reactivated for World War II, the battalion participated in critical campaigns including the Normandy landings and the subsequent advance across Europe, providing essential engineer support for Allied forces. In the decades following, the 46th Engineer Battalion took part in major operations during the Vietnam War and later contributed to missions in the Middle East, including Operation Iraqi Freedom. Throughout its history, the battalion has earned numerous commendations for its technical expertise and dedication to supporting combat operations worldwide.
