• Origins and Activation: Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14 (MALS-14) was originally activated as Headquarters and Maintenance Squadron 14 (H&MS-14) on May 1, 1988, at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. • Redesignation: In October 1988, just months after its activation, H&MS-14 was redesignated as MALS-14 as part of a Marine Corps-wide reorganization to better support the aviation combat element. • Operation Desert Storm: MALS-14 provided critical aviation logistics support during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1990-1991, ensuring Marine aircraft remained operational throughout the conflict. • Support to AV-8B Harriers: The squadron has played a key role in maintaining and supporting the AV-8B Harrier II, a unique vertical/short takeoff and landing (V/STOL) aircraft operated by Marine attack squadrons. • Component of MAG-14: MALS-14 is part of Marine Aircraft Group 14 (MAG-14), which falls under the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, and supports multiple flying squadrons in peacetime and combat. • Expeditionary Deployments: MALS-14 personnel have deployed in support of numerous operations, including Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and humanitarian missions, delivering logistics support in challenging environments. • Technical Innovations: The squadron is known for pioneering improvements in logistics processes, including implementation of advanced supply chain and maintenance management systems. • Women in Leadership: Over the years, MALS-14 has been at the forefront of promoting women in leadership roles within the logistics and aviation maintenance fields. • Aircraft Supported: In addition to the Harrier, MALS-14 has supported EA-6B Prowlers, F/A-18 Hornets, KC-130 Hercules, and other critical Marine aviation assets. • Unit Motto: The squadron’s unofficial motto, "No Marine Left Behind," underscores its commitment to mission accomplishment and Marine welfare, reflecting its proud legacy of support.
