• Origins: The 2nd Battalion, 11th Field Artillery Regiment (2/11th FA) was first constituted on 1 July 1916 in the Regular Army as Battery B, 11th Field Artillery. • World War I Service: The unit was organized on 1 June 1917 at Douglas, Arizona, and later served in France during World War I as part of the 6th Division. • Hawaii Assignment: After the war, 2/11th FA was stationed in Hawaii for many years, becoming a key artillery component for the defense of the islands. • Pearl Harbor: Members of 2/11th FA were present during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and participated in the initial defense of the island. • World War II Pacific Campaigns: The battalion served with distinction in the Pacific Theater, including campaigns in Guadalcanal, New Georgia, Leyte, and Okinawa. • Korean War: Reactivated in 1950, 2/11th FA fought in several major campaigns throughout the Korean War, earning multiple awards and citations for its actions. • "On Time On Target": The battalion's motto, "On Time On Target," reflects its reputation for accuracy and reliability in fire support missions. • Modernization: The unit transitioned from traditional towed artillery to advanced self-propelled howitzers, including the M777A2, adapting to modern battlefield requirements. • Current Role: 2/11th FA is now part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, based at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, supporting rapid deployment and joint operations in the Pacific region. • Decorations: The battalion has received numerous awards, including Presidential Unit Citations, Meritorious Unit Commendations, and foreign decorations for its exemplary service in multiple conflicts.
