The 153rd Infantry Regiment is a historic unit of the Arkansas Army National Guard, with origins tracing back to 1917 when it was organized for service in World War I. The regiment served with distinction in France as part of the 39th Division, providing crucial support and personnel replacements to front-line units. During World War II, the 153rd Infantry was mobilized again, performing coastal defense duties and later serving in Alaska’s Aleutian Islands Campaign. In the postwar era, the regiment continued its service as part of the National Guard, participating in domestic operations and maintaining readiness for federal mobilization.
