The 1st Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment (1/2nd ACR), is a storied unit in the United States Army with roots tracing back to the original formation of the 2nd Dragoons in 1836. Over its long history, the squadron has served in numerous major conflicts, including the Indian Wars, World War II, and the Cold War, where it played a critical reconnaissance and security role along the Iron Curtain in Germany. During Operation Desert Storm in 1991, 1/2nd ACR was instrumental in the swift advance of coalition forces, conducting aggressive reconnaissance and engaging enemy forces effectively. In the 21st century, the unit has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, adapting to modern warfare with advanced armored and reconnaissance capabilities while upholding its proud cavalry traditions.
