The 1st Battalion, 377th Field Artillery Regiment (Air Assault), traces its lineage to the 377th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion, activated in 1942 at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana. The unit earned distinction during World War II, participating in key operations such as Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe, often providing critical fire support for airborne assaults. Throughout the Cold War and into the 21st century, 1-377th FAR has served as a vital part of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), supporting operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Renowned for its rapid deployment and air assault artillery capabilities, the battalion continues to uphold its legacy of excellence and adaptability in complex combat environments.
