• Established in 1963: The 910th Airlift Wing was first established in 1963 as the 910th Troop Carrier Group, part of the Air Force Reserve, at Youngstown Municipal Airport, Ohio. • Aerial Spray Mission: The 910th Airlift Wing is the Department of Defense’s only large-area fixed-wing aerial spray unit, tasked with controlling disease vectors, pests, and oil spills. • Operation Desert Storm: Members of the 910th were deployed in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, providing vital airlift and logistical support during the Gulf War. • Humanitarian Relief Efforts: The unit has participated in disaster relief missions, such as Hurricane Katrina in 2005, where it conducted aerial spray operations to control mosquito populations and prevent disease. • Aircraft Evolution: Over the years, the 910th has operated several aircraft, including the C-119 Flying Boxcar, C-130 Hercules, and the UC-123K Provider for spray missions. • Unique Aerial Spray System: The wing employs the Modular Aerial Spray System (MASS), which can be installed on a C-130 in just hours, allowing rapid deployment for pest or oil spill emergencies. • Global Reach: The 910th’s missions have taken it around the world, including deployments to Southwest Asia, Central America, and the Caribbean for both military and humanitarian operations. • Community Engagement: The unit regularly participates in community outreach, air shows, and educational programs to foster military-civilian relationships. • Decorations and Awards: The 910th Airlift Wing has received numerous Air Force Outstanding Unit Awards in recognition of its exceptional service. • Women in Service: The 910th has a proud history of integrating women into its ranks, with many female Airmen serving in leadership, technical, and operational positions.
