The 4392nd Security Police Squadron (SPS) was a United States Air Force unit assigned to Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, during the Cold War era. Activated in the 1960s, the squadron was responsible for safeguarding the base’s critical missile and space launch facilities, ensuring the security of personnel and sensitive assets. The unit played a vital role in the protection of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and supported numerous high-profile space launches. In 1991, the 4392nd SPS was redesignated as the 30th Security Police Squadron as part of an Air Force-wide reorganization.
