37th Training Wing

• In 1941, Randolph Field in Texas was designated as a training base for the U.S. Army Air Corps, which eventually became the 37th Training Wing. • The 37th Training Wing was instrumental in training pilots during World War II, including graduates who flew in the Doolittle Raid against Japan in 1942. • During the Vietnam War, the 37th Training Wing provided critical training for pilots flying combat missions in Southeast Asia. • In 1972, the 37th Training Wing's mission expanded to include training air traffic controllers and airfield managers. • The 37th Training Wing played a key role in Operation Desert Storm in 1991, providing training for pilots and support personnel deploying to the Middle East. • In 2009, the 37th Training Wing was reactivated at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, consolidating multiple training units under one command. • Today, the 37th Training Wing is responsible for providing basic military training for all Air Force recruits, as well as technical training for a wide range of career fields within the Air Force. • The 37th Training Wing has a long history of excellence in training and has received numerous awards and accolades for its contributions to the Air Force mission. • The 37th Training Wing's motto is "Total Training Team," reflecting its commitment to providing comprehensive training for all Air Force personnel. • Throughout its history, the 37th Training Wing has been a critical component of the Air Force's mission to train and prepare the next generation of Airmen to defend our nation and its interests around the world.
