10th Air Base Wing

• The 10th Air Base Wing was originally activated as the 10th Transport Group in July 1948 at Tulln Air Base, Austria. • During the Korean War, the 10th Transport Group flew missions in support of United Nations forces, transporting personnel and supplies throughout the theater. • In 1954, the 10th Transport Group was redesignated as the 10th Air Base Group and later as the 10th Air Base Wing in 1959. • The 10th Air Base Wing provided support for various operations, including Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, in the early 2000s. • The wing's motto is "Sustineo Alas" which translates to "Sustain the Wings" in Latin, reflecting its support role for flying operations. • The 10th Air Base Wing is based at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where it provides support services for the academy's operations. • The wing is responsible for the maintenance of facilities, security, medical services, and other support functions to ensure the academy can fulfill its mission of educating and training future Air Force officers. • Throughout its history, the 10th Air Base Wing has received numerous awards and commendations for its operational excellence and support to military operations around the world. • In addition to its support functions, the wing also has a proud tradition of community service and engagement, participating in local events and outreach programs in the Colorado Springs area. • The 10th Air Base Wing continues to play a vital role in supporting the mission of the United States Air Force Academy and ensuring the success of future Air Force leaders.
