The 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment (2/9th Infantry), known as "Manchus," is a storied unit of the United States Army with origins dating back to 1855. The battalion earned distinction during the Indian Wars, Philippine–American War, and served with valor in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, where it saw heavy combat. In Vietnam, the "Manchus" were renowned for their actions in the Cu Chi and Tay Ninh regions, suffering significant casualties while inflicting heavy losses on enemy forces. In recent decades, 2/9th Infantry has served in both Iraq and Afghanistan as part of the Global War on Terrorism, maintaining its legacy of service and sacrifice.

The 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment (1-506 IN), known as "Currahee," was first activated in 1942 at Camp Toccoa, Georgia, as part of the famed 101st Airborne Division. The battalion saw distinguished service during World War II, participating in major operations such as D-Day (Normandy), Operation Market Garden, and the Battle of the Bulge. After periods of inactivation and reactivation, 1-506 IN served in the Vietnam War, earning numerous unit citations for valor. In recent decades, the battalion has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, continuing its proud legacy of airborne and air assault infantry excellence.

The 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (1/503d INF) traces its origins to World War II as part of the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment, known for its historic airborne assaults in the Pacific Theater. The unit later became attached to the 2nd Infantry Division (2ID), serving with distinction in various conflicts, including the Vietnam War, where it earned numerous commendations for its bravery and effectiveness in combat. Over the decades, 1/503d INF has participated in multinational training exercises and operations, reinforcing its reputation as a premier light infantry force. Today, the battalion continues to uphold its proud legacy, demonstrating readiness and professionalism as part of the U.S. Army’s global commitments.

The 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment (5/20th Infantry) is a distinguished unit of the United States Army with a history dating back to its original activation in 1866. The battalion saw significant action during the Vietnam War, where it participated in numerous combat operations and earned several unit commendations for valor and performance. In the modern era, 5/20th Infantry has been part of the 1st Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, and has deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. The battalion continues to uphold its proud legacy of service and excellence as a key component of the Army’s Stryker Brigade Combat Teams.
