  • Origins: The 1st Battalion, 67th Air Defense Artillery (1-67 ADA) traces its lineage to the 67th Coast Artillery, which was constituted in 1918 during World War I.
  • World War II Service: The unit served actively in the European Theater during World War II, participating in campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe.
  • Transition to Air Defense: Initially a coastal artillery unit, it was later redesignated as an air defense artillery unit to reflect changing military technology and threats.
