ABOUT USCGC Decisive
- Commissioned in 1968: USCGC Decisive (WMEC-629) was commissioned on August 23, 1968, as a Reliance-class medium endurance cutter in the United States Coast Guard.
- Multiple Homeports: Over its service life, Decisive was homeported in several locations, including New Castle, New Hampshire; Portsmouth, Virginia; Pascagoula, Mississippi; and Pensacola, Florida.
- Drug Interdiction Operations: Decisive played a significant role in counter-narcotics missions, seizing several tons of illegal drugs during patrols in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico.
- Rescue Missions: The cutter participated in dramatic search and rescue operations, including the rescue of Haitian migrants and mariners in distress.
- Hurricane Response: USCGC Decisive was deployed for disaster relief and humanitarian missions following major hurricanes, such as Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
- Migration Interdiction: The cutter was frequently involved in interdicting migrants attempting dangerous sea crossings, saving hundreds of lives over its service.
