- Origins in World War II: The 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment (1-14 IN) was originally assigned to the 25th Infantry Division in 1941 and saw extensive combat in the Pacific Theater during World War II, including Guadalcanal, Northern Solomons, and Luzon campaigns.
