History of 621st Contingency Response Wing

The 621st Contingency Response Wing is a unit of the United States Air Force that specializes in rapidly deploying to provide support in emergency and crisis situations. They are trained to set up airfields, unload cargo, and establish communications in austere environments. The wing is based out of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey and is composed of a variety of specialized personnel including security forces, logisticians, and air traffic controllers. The 621st CRW plays a crucial role in enabling the Air Force to quickly respond to humanitarian disasters, wartime contingencies, and other unpredictable events.

  • Deployed to assist in the relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
  • Provided support during Operation Unified Response in Haiti in 2010 following a devastating earthquake.

  • Provided humanitarian assistance during Operation Damayan in the Philippines in 2013.
  • Supported the Ebola response in West Africa in 2014.
  • Assisted in the evacuation of American citizens from Yemen in 2015.
  • Deployed to Puerto Rico in 2017 to provide disaster relief after Hurricane Maria.
  • Supported relief efforts in the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian in 2019.
  • Assisted in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic by setting up field hospitals and providing medical care in various locations.
  • Provided support during numerous humanitarian and disaster relief missions around the world, showcasing the unit's versatility and readiness to respond to a wide range of crises.
