ABOUT 325th Fighter Wing
- The 325th Fighter Wing was established in 1948 as the 325th Fighter Group, and later became a wing in 1992.
- During World War II, the 325th Fighter Group was known as the "Checkertail Clan" and flew missions in North Africa and Italy.
- In 1944, the Checkertail Clan was the first Allied fighter unit to penetrate German airspace and engage the enemy over the Reich.
