ABOUT Helicopter Training Squadron 18
- Establishment: Helicopter Training Squadron 18 (HT-18), known as the "Vigilant Eagles," was established on March 1, 1972, at Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Milton, Florida.
- Mission: HT-18’s primary mission is to train Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and allied student aviators in basic and advanced rotary-wing flight operations.
- Aircraft Evolution: The squadron originally flew the TH-1L Iroquois (“Huey”) helicopter, and later transitioned to the TH-57 Sea Ranger, a military variant of the Bell 206 Jet Ranger.
- Part of Training Air Wing FIVE: HT-18 operates under Training Air Wing FIVE, one of the busiest aviation training wings in the world.
