ABOUT 2nd Security Forces Squadron
- Historic Roots: The 2nd Security Forces Squadron (2 SFS) traces its lineage back to the original military police units assigned to Barksdale Field during World War II, making its history over 80 years old.
- Base Defense: The squadron is responsible for the security and law enforcement of Barksdale Air Force Base, home of Air Force Global Strike Command and the 2nd Bomb Wing, which operates the B-52H Stratofortress.
- Operation Iraqi Freedom: Members of 2 SFS have deployed in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, providing base security, convoy protection, and detainee operations.
