History of 2nd Bn 30th Inf, B Co., 3rd ID

The 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, nicknamed “Black Scarf Battalion,” is a distinguished unit of the United States Army assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division. Activated in 1917, the battalion saw action in World War I and gained further renown for its valor during World War II, notably in Sicily, Italy, and France. Company B has served in numerous conflicts, including the Korean War, Operation Desert Storm, and the Global War on Terrorism with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, 2-30 Infantry continues its legacy of excellence as part of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd ID, stationed at Fort Moore, Georgia.
