USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) is the lead ship of its class of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers in the United States Navy and was commissioned on July 22, 2017. Named after the 38th President of the United States, CVN 78 introduced numerous technological advancements, including the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) and Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG). The carrier conducted extensive post-delivery trials and completed its first full deployment in 2022, participating in NATO exercises and operations in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. USS Gerald R.
