William Remine Hoskins, Jr., was born on April 4, 1929 in Matewan, WV to William Remine Hoskins and Helen Charlotte Oliver, along with his twin brother Lewis Eli Hoskins.

Known to friends and family as Billy, he lied about his age in 1945 to first join the Merchant Marine and then later the US Army. His father was serving in the US Navy at this time.

When the Korean War broke out, he was recalled to the Army and spent 14 months fighting communist forces until his death in combat on October 4, 1951, near Chorwon, in what is now North Korea.

His unit information is: D CO 1 BN 7 CAV RGT (INF) 1 CAV DIV
